Adelaide v Western Bulldogs, Adelaide Oval, Friday night

We're going to start our weekend of Draftstars with a go at the 'Turbo' format of the game, where coaches need to pick a player from six different categories to make up their side. There is no salary cap, but players are filtered based on scoring history.

In tier one, Marcus Bontempelli (MID, $14,800) gets the nod. He's averaged 105 over the past five weeks when other Dogs have dropped. Crows midfielder Rory Sloane (MID, $13,750) has been down at times but still averages 107 points a game, so gets the tier two spot. Veteran Matthew Boyd (DEF, $12,550) gets the nod in tier three upon return.

The last three spots are tougher to pick. Bulldog Matt Suckling (FWD/DEF, $11,700) is probably the most reliable choice in tier four so we're going with him, while Dogs youngster Toby McLean (FWD, $11,200) is being blooded more and more in the midfield, so we're going to take a punt and grab him in tier five.

It's a tough selection in tier six, with some lower-scoring players up for grabs. We think Jason Johannisen (DEF, $9900) is due for a rebound in form, so he's in the line-up.

Hawthorn v Greater Western Sydney, Tasmania, Saturday

More and more Draftstars coaches are starting to jump on the Ryan Burton (FWD, $11,550) bandwagon, and for good reason. The classy Hawks youngster scored 97 points last week against Collingwood, lifting his average to 87 this season.

Tom Mitchell (MID, $17,400) continues his brilliant run after another 135 points in the win over the Pies, while a young Hawk – Daniel Howe (DEF, $10,450) – and an ageing one – Luke Hodge (MID, $13,250) – both hit triple figures. Hodge has been consistent this season, averaging 92 for the year. It was Howe's second ton of the season.

We hope you've been listening to our Lachie Whitfield (MID, $14,700) advice. He top-scored for the Giants last week with 123 points, is averaging 107 for the season, and has hit triple figures five times in seven games this year. Do what you can to bring him in.

A couple of GWS defenders put their names in lights last week against Geelong. Nathan Wilson (DEF, $10,600) gathered 110 points and Nick Haynes (DEF, $10,250) picked up 108, well above their respective averages in the 70s. They're cheaper options and not the worst out there.

Collingwood v Essendon, MCG, Saturday

Jordan De Goey (FWD/MID, $11,800) played the best game of his career last week against the Hawks, finding 32 disposals and 109 Draftstars points. He's averaged 91 over the past five weeks, so is worth a look as an emerging midfield option for the Pies.

The Pies' A-Graders were a touch down last week, with Steele Sidebottom (MID, $16,450) the only member of the club's big names to get to 100. However, Brayden Maynard (DEF, $11,050) showed he could be a serviceable choice with 92 points, up from his 74-point average.

Jobe Watson's (MID, $15,600) wayward late pass in Essendon's loss to Brisbane last week was costly, but Draftstars coaches wouldn't have minded. The ex-skipper picked up 125 points against the Lions, which was the best total of his season. He's still a valuable pick, demonstrated by his 99-point average.

It was a shock to see Zach Merrett (MID, $15,650) back in the pack with just 78 points. His 19-disposal game was the first time in nearly 50 games he hasn't reached 20 possessions, so it's a good time to buy him. Watch for the rebound.

Sydney v Gold Coast, SCG, Saturday

In case you haven't noticed, Luke Parker (MID, $14,950) is back to his best. He's scored centuries in three of his past four games, including a 148-point monster in last week's win over Melbourne. Parker didn't reach triple figures until round eight this year, so is making up for lost time now.

Nic Newman's (DEF, $14,200) stock continues to soar after another 116-point score, Zak Jones (MID/DEF, $10,950) has become a reliable scorer as his 106 points last week indicated, and Tom Papley (FWD, $12,150) is growing into a more consistent forward option. There's plenty to like about the Swans.

Jarryd Lyons (FWD/MID, $13,400) deserves more credit as an A-grade midfield choice. The former Crow has been a star for the Suns, and last week collected a season-high 133 points against North Melbourne, pushing his average to 114.6 over the past five weeks. That's elite stuff, and yet he's still rarely chosen.

Gold Coast youngster Brayden Fiorini (MID, $13,300) continues to gather stacks of the ball and last week posted a 112-point score, while another Suns recruit, former Pies ruckman Jarrod Witts (RK, $12,750), gathered 96 points to keep his average in the 90s. He's a solid choice.

Brisbane Lions v Geelong, Gabba, Saturday night

Dayne Zorko (MID, $15,150) was always going to bounce back from his round 14 stinker to go well last week, and that's what the Lions star did against the Bombers, racking up 124 points in his side's win. He's been terrific this year, and responded beautifully.

Lewis Taylor (FWD/MID, $10,600) was also very good with 90 points, above his 77-point average, while second-gamer Alex Witherden (MID/DEF, $10,850) backed up his excellent debut with 96 points against Essendon. Witherden is a good kick and demands the ball, so should always get plenty of touches across half-back.

Joel Selwood (MID, $15,050) returns from concussion and will be raring to go, so he'd be a nice top-end choice for your midfield. Patrick Dangerfield (MID, $17,800) lifted like champions do in last week's draw with GWS, gathering a game-high 142 points.

Selwood and Dangerfield's teammate Sam Menegola (FWD/MID, $14,600) is almost at their level. In 11 games this season, the midfielder has averaged 100 points and last week notched up 113 in the absence of Selwood. He's ultra-reliable and a worthy selection.

St Kilda v Richmond, Etihad Stadium, Saturday night

Jack Steele (FWD/MID, $13,200) put on a tackling show last week, finishing with 119 points. That total was boosted by his tally of 17 tackles, meaning his lower possession total (15) didn't matter too much. He's averaged 91.7 this season since crossing from GWS.

Seb Ross (MID, $13,500) and Jack Billings (FWD, $13,450) continued their stellar form with scores in triple figures again, while Koby Stevens (MID, $13,500) is another St Kilda midfielder with a penchant for good numbers. In eight games, Stevens has averaged 97 points, and has been a canny get for Draftstars coaches.

Hopefully a few coaches out there took note of Kane Lambert's (FWD/MID, $13,100) improved form. The Tigers midfielder top-scored for his side last week with 147 points – no mean feat given the stars around him. He's now scored three tons in his past four outings, and the other game was a score in the mid 90s.

Ruckman Toby Nankervis (FWD/RK, $12,150) also hit triple figures, with the ruckman reaching 108 points, his first century since round five as his numbers have slowly dipped. Keep avoiding Dion Prestia (MID, $11,950), though. For a top talent, his 77-point average isn't too appealing.

North Melbourne v Fremantle, Etihad Stadium, Sunday

It's been an improved season for Luke McDonald (DEF, $11,000), who has played every game and averaged 82 points for North. His 106-point total last week was just the second time this season he has passed 100, but it's pushed his average to 87.8 over the past five rounds. A cheap backline option.

North is depleted this week but regains Ben Cunnington (MID, $11,700) for this important midfield battle, while Todd Goldstein (RK, $13,050) will be aiming to outwork Freo youngster Sean Darcy (RK, $11,150) in the ruck. Goldstein is averaging 91 points this season despite not being overly dominant.

Darcy has been excellent in his first two games, averaging 97 points and last week scoring 114 in an enormous effort. Not quite as good as Michael Walters (FWD, $13,700) or Ethan Hughes (DEF, $10,300), however. Walters' 145 was his third consecutive century and his fourth score of 118 or more this year – when he goes, he goes big.

Hughes was more unexpected. The defender gathered 137 points, well above his previous best of 76 (scored in round four this season). It would be brave to bring him in expecting the same sort of success this week.

West Coast v Port Adelaide, Domain Stadium, Sunday

Drew Petrie (FWD, $12,050) is turning into a unique Draftstars option. The former Roo picked up 110 points last week against the Bulldogs, which followed his 121-point score the previous week. He's in form and is cheap for a player reaching triple figures, so think hard about him for the Eagles this week.

There were no surprised with Andrew Gaff's (MID, $15,050) excellent 130-point game against the Dogs, nor Dom Sheed's (FWD/MID, $12,550) 102 points in a more prominent midfield role (we've been telling you about him). Jack Darling (FWD, $10,400) also put in a terrific game with 93 points, well above his 69-point average. Could it be a turning point?

Chad Wingard (FWD/MID, $13,850) put on a clinic last week with 141 points, his best score of the season. It pushed his average to 92 points, and that might seduce you to grab him. But it's worth remembering it's only Wingard's third century of the year, so he isn't a regular big scorer.

Dan Houston (FWD/DEF, $9250) won't catch the eye in the same manner but picked up 101 points last week against Richmond, while Ollie Wines (MID, $14,500) continues to score extremely well and lead Port's midfield. His 104 points last week was the eighth time he has passed 100, which puts him in elite company.

Carlton v Melbourne, MCG, Sunday

Bryce Gibbs (MID, $18,150) is running hot. He has scored seven consecutive triple-figure scores, and last week reached 160 points against the Crows in another brilliant game. With five scores over 130 this season, Gibbs has shown he can be your matchwinner.

All the big guns went well for the Blues last week, including Marc Murphy (MID, $14,900), who has had a stellar year. His 130 points saw his average rise to 113 for the season, keeping him in the top 13 players across the competition. He started the season on fire and is still going strong.

It was a disappointing night for the Dees against Sydney, but Michael Hibberd (DEF, $13,000) was a shining light. The running defender has been terrific since moving to Melbourne from Essendon, and gathered 107 points last week. He's an in-form defender to choose.

Max Gawn (RK, $12,050) isn't quite back to his best since returning to the Dees from his long-term injury, but still managed 83 points against the Swans. He'll be back to triple figures in no time, so be patient.
