GEELONG defender Corey Enright is out ofthe preliminary final against Hawthorn after failing to train on Wednesday.
Enright strained the medial ligament inhis right knee in the qualifying final against Fremantle.
He went through a solid running sessionon Tuesday and the club refused to rule him out, but football manager NeilBalme confirmed on Wednesday that he would not play.
"He's come in pretty well thisweek, but we won't be playing him this week," Balme told reporters atSimonds Stadium.
Balme said the Cats were pretty contentwith how he was recovering, but were not making any decisions on hisavailability for the Grand Final if the Cats defeat the Hawks.
"That's another question foranother day, but we're pretty happy with the way he's going."
Tom Hawkins did hit the track on Wednesday and wentthrough some gentle run-throughs and light kicking as he manages his ongoingback issue.
"What do we say, good today, I hope it's good tomorrow and the nextday. But, no, he's been pretty good actually, so we're pretty confident (he'llplay)," Balme said.
Josh Caddy trained strongly and"should be fine" if recalled, while youngsters Jordan Murdoch andpotential debutant Shane Kersten, alongside Caddy, are the favourites toreplace the suspended Paul Chapman.
Balme also questioned how the MatchReview Panel has assessed players bumping this season.
Chapman will miss this Friday night'sblockbuster after accepting his one-match suspension for engaging in rough conducton Port Adelaide's Robbie Gray.
The Cats' football manager said thesystem, which the League has recently put under review, "had gone toofar".
"It's very hard to take theautomatic response out of it (the bump)," Balme said.
"But the rule says that if youchoose to bump someone, if anything happens it's your fault.
"You could argue forever whetherthat's reasonable, and I think it's not, but that's the way it is.
"You just can't bump in my view - andeveryone at AFL House says the bump's not out of the game, well, I think,effectively it is."
Balme also said the Cats expected HawkCyril Rioli to take his place in the Hawks side on Friday night, as he doeseverything in his power to overcome an ankle complaint.
