THE FINAL Thursday night game of the home and away season saw Patrick Dangerfield (151) not only post his highest AFL Fantasy score of the year, but it was the first time he scored more than his 2016 and 2017 average.

Dangerfield’s 33 disposals was surpassed by a career-high 43 for Rory Laird (122).

In the week he penned a five-year deal to stay at the Crows, Rory Sloane (115) equalled his highest score of the year as his side took the four points. 

Earlier on Thursday evening, the round 17 teams were announced.

Some big names return to their respective sides this week to please their Fantasy owners. Kade Simpson is named to play on Friday night after being a late withdrawal for Carlton’s round 16 clash with the Lions after a groin complaint. Isaac Heeney has ticked all of the boxes following a week off with concussion.

Jack Macrae has recovered from his hamstring injury and will be keen to continue his stellar Fantasy season that has seen him average a career-high 120.4 points.

As the sixth forward taken in Drafts during the preseason, Toby Greene will be a welcome inclusion as he is set to line up in just his fourth game of the year. With an average draft pick (ADP) of 38, he has some making up to do in the run towards the finals.

The Swans announced that Colin O’Riordan (DEF, $170,000) will make his debut on Sunday. The 22-year-old has been dominating in the NEAFL. Last week O’Riordan scored a whopping 169 thanks to 37 disposals, 11 marks and two goals but this wasn’t a one-off. In his 11 games, the Irishman is averaging 111 and looks set to take Jarrad McVeigh’s role while he sits on the sidelines with a collarbone injury. 

Joining McVeigh as outs for round 17 are teammates Dan Hannebery (calf) and Kieren Jack (knee).

A groin injury will see Fremantle’s Andrew Brayshaw miss his first match of the year. The first-round draft selection is averaging 65.6 points with a high score of 95 coming three weeks ago. Brayshaw has increased $198K to be a reliable cash cow.

Injuries to Demon Joel Smith (hip) and Saint Logan Austin (groin) will test Fantasy Classic benches in the backline this week.

Brad Lynch (DEF, $229,000) is the most traded in player and rightfully so after scoring an impressive 72 last round. He has great job security and has a breakeven of -11 so he will generate plenty of cash.

Andrew Gaff (MID, $773,000) is the second most traded in player this week on the back of a lazy average of 136 over the last three weeks. He has an easy match-up with the Pies this week where he could push his third 140+ score in three weeks and given he has a BE of 88. He will be a lot more expensive next week. 

Angus Brayshaw (MID, $677,000) is the fifth most traded in player this week and it is easy to see why based on his three-game average of 111. Since making a move up the ground, his scoring has been phenomenal and he is a must-have given his defender status. He has a BE of just 87 and smashed the Dogs a few weeks ago in a nice preview of this game.

Bayley Fritsch (FWD/MID, $569,000) is the second most traded out player with coaches considering him a fattened cow and thanking him for his $359,000 price rise. If you are forced to hold, he has a nice match-up this week and should be serviceable once again. 

Ben Ronke (FWD, $423,000) similar to Fritta, it’s the time of year where it’s time to say bye to the likes of Ronke, which makes him the fifth most traded out player this week as part of an upgrade. He has been a great money maker, increasing by $253,000. 

Logan Austin (DEF, $408,000) has been fantastic, increasing by $224,000 in just five games while averaging an impressive 78. Unfortunately he has gone down with an injury which makes it an easy decision to trade him out.

Calvin's Captains

1. Max Gawn - The Bulldogs give up a mountain of points to their opposition ruckman, as Gawn found out when he scored 141 against them earlier this year. In fact, the last six ruckman against the Dogs have averaged 116. Back at the MCG, Gawn has scored 6x100+ scores there this year from seven games and gets the big green tick of approval this week.

2. Brodie Grundy - Despite the Eagles conceding the second least amount of points to ruckmen this year and Sam Jacobs being the only ruckman to score 100+, we will still back in Grundy. He hasn’t gone under 100 since round one and is one of the best in the game.

3. Tom Mitchell - The pig will be tagged. Berry has been tagging for the Lions in their last two wins and therefore he will get the role again. Mitchell scored 149 against Brisbane earlier this year and still should be great again at UTAS Stadium in Tasmania.

4. Scott Pendlebury - With 13 scores over 100 against the Eagles in his last 14 games, Pendlebury looks the goods here. Coming off 123 last week, this reliable star is still getting it done.

5. Andrew Gaff - Based on Gaff’s form alone of 146 and 148, he sneaks into the fifth spot. Although he was tagged last year by Levi Greenwood to just 51, he’s unstoppable at the moment and should be fine here despite playing on the MCG.
