Victoria Country and Victoria Metro have announced teams to feature in the inaugural Victorian U17 Girls Futures match this weekend.
The talent showcase will be played at Bundoora’s La Trobe University Sports Park on Sunday, September 1 from 10:00am.
The match will feature players born in 2007 who have been competing as bottom-age players in Coates Talent League this season.
The Victorian U17 Girls Futures match is part of an action-packed weekend of under-17 girls Futures action in Victoria, with the 2024 Marsh AFL National Futures squad also in town for a camp that will include a match a GMHBA Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Victorian U17 Girls Futures match provides opportunities for players to showcase their talent ahead of entering their draft year.
A selection of players who take part in the Victorian U17 Girls Futures match will go on to feature in the Victoria Country and Victoria Metro squads to compete at next year’s Marsh AFL National Championships – U18 Girls.
Victorian players in the 2024 Marsh AFL National Futures squad won’t feature in the Victorian U17 Girls Futures showcase.
Players were nominated by their respective Coates Talent League programs, with all 12 Victorian-based teams represented.
No matches have been scheduled in the Coates Talent League Girls this weekend to ensure bottom-age players can take part in this weekend’s Futures program.
