FORMER Fremantle big man Robbie Warnock headlines a trio of trade-week recruits who will make their debuts for Carlton when it meets Richmond in the opening match of the AFL season on Thursday night.

The Blues have included 23-year-old Warnock for his first match for his new club after the 206cm ruckman earned his spot with some impressive performances throughout the pre-season.

After joining Carlton 18 months ago, Warnock's 2009 season was ruined by injury, with the promising tap ruckman only resuming in the latter half of the year.

But after an encouraging summer he will run out alongside former Demon Brock McLean, who the Blues picked up in exchange for pick 11 in the NAB AFL Draft during last year's trade period, while young key position prospect Lachie Henderson will also make his debut for his new club.

Henderson, a former Brisbane Lion, was the player offered to Carlton as part of the trade that sent Brendan Fevola north.

The Blues have opted to leave out first-round draftee Kane Lucas, with the youngster among the emergencies, but as expected Jarrad Waite returns after suffering a season-ending knee injury early last year.

Andrew Carrazzo, who will play his 100th senior match on Thursday night, will lead the Blues in Chris Judd's absence.

Earlier this week Richmond announced it would blood several debutants and the Tigers remained true to their word, with three players set to make their senior debuts while another will play his first match in the yellow and black.

Former Port Adelaide defender Mitch Farmer will step out for the Tigers for the first time but most eyes will be on the Tigers' new breed of Dustin Martin, Ben Nason and Relton Roberts.

Ben Cousins has been named and looks set to play after recovering from a stomach illness.
