HARRY O'Brien was nowhere to be seen at Collingwood training on Monday afternoon as he continues absence from the club.

O'Brien was given permission by Magpies management to take some time off after a dispute with coach Nathan Buckley last week.

The Pies defender spent the weekend in Port Douglas and the club had expected him to return to the club on Monday.

However, he did not turn up at all throughout the morning and into the afternoon.

O'Brien wasn't the only notable absentee on Monday.

Star midfielder Dayne Beams, who returned in the VFL at the weekend in fine style, did not grace the training track.

Pies teammate Luke Ball said on 3AW on Saturday night that he fully expected Beams to play his first senior match in Collingwood's Friday night clash against Adelaide at the MCG.

Andrew Krakouer, Tyson Goldsack and Dane Swan were also absent on Monday, while Dale Thomas and Nick Maxwell made brief appearances but then returned to the confines of the Westpac Centre.

The rest of the Magpies had an extremely light session, filled with low-intensity activities to work on reflexes and touch.

Ben Reid and Sam Dwyer trained away from the main group and participated in 'flush runs' – a series of steady run throughs designed to enhance recovery.
