COLLINGWOOD has delisted a further four players with Hawthorn premiership player Clinton Young and journeyman midfielder Sam Dwyer headlining the club's list changes.

The Magpies have also decided to release rookies Tony Armstrong and Michael Tanteit, while as previously advised Lachlan Keeffe and Josh Thomas have been let go as part of their two-year suspensions for taking banned drug clenbuterol.

Collingwood has left the door open for Keeffe and Thomas to return to its rookie list when their backdated bans expire at the end of 2016.

Young played 21 games for the Magpies after being recruited from the Hawks at the end of the 2012 season. A string of injuries limited his ability to get out on to the field in his three years on the Magpies' list and he failed to play a match in 2015.

He also played 116 matches for the Hawks, including the 2008 premiership, after making his debut in 2005.

Dwyer played 39 matches for the Magpies after being selected by the club with pick No.27, from VFL side Port Melbourne, in the 2013 rookie draft.

The 29-year-old's best two seasons came in 2013 and 2014 where he averaged 16 disposals a game but fell out of favour as the Magpies pushed their youth policy.

Armstrong played six matches for Collingwood between 2014 and 2015, adding to the 14 he played at Adelaide (2010-2011) and the 15 he played at the Sydney Swans (2012-2013).

Manteit did not play a match for the Magpies after being picked by the Pies with pick No.8 in the 2015 rookie draft.

"People don’t always see what sacrifices are made to try to forge an AFL career. The game asks an enormous amount of its players and all of the boys did what they could to give themselves a chance," Magpies football manager Neil Balme said.

"We thank all of them for that effort and wish them well."
