Voss on possible team inclusions

“Browny (Jonathan Brown) and Goose (Matt Maguire) are likely to play this week.”

“Matt Maguire is probably less likely than Brown, but they trained really hard last week and we ramped up their work over the weekend. They are both looking in reasonable shape.”

“It’s just a matter of looking at the work they have done and determining whether we think it’s enough for them to get through a game of footy.”

“Browny though isn’t over the line just yet. We are not going to take any chances with him. We have to be really confident that he can not only play, but he can also pull up well afterwards.”

“So we won’t make our decision until we are 100% confident on that.”

“Drummo (Josh Drummond) is still a bit further behind them. While he is making great progress running flat out and doing some of his agility stuff, he is still a fair way off it.”

Voss on last year’s win against the Hawks

“It was certainly a big win.”

“We were going alright and it was a really good win. It is probably the reverse this time around with Hawthorn really hitting their straps while we are trying to gain some traction.”

“The Hawks are playing a really tough, physical brand of football. They feel fairly comfortable down there in Tasmania too - it is their second home ground so it will be a good challenge for us.”

Voss on the younger players

“I’ve been really pleased with a number of our younger players and their progress. Guys like Tom Rockliff, Todd Banfield and Jack Redden have been really important for us.”

“Tom Collier didn’t really play that well in the Reserves over the first six weeks of this season. But we gave him time, support and coaching about what he needs to do and I thought he was a very clean player on the weekend and made some good decisions against St Kilda.”

“Pearce Hanley looked more comfortable with the pace of the game compared to his earlier senior match this year (Round 7 v Fremantle). I would love to see Pearce get another crack at it this week.”

“There are certain training and playing standards that we expect from our players - that is the contract you have with this footy club. If you can’t fulfill your contract, then your position in the team will be in jeopardy. It will be that way right through until the end of this season.”
