Answering questions from fans on Twitter, Scott said George Horlin-Smith would be given "every chance to cement a spot in the midfield" in 2014.
Scott said he was "pretty confident" Josh Caddy, Billie Smedts, Mitch Duncan, and Cam Guthrie would all improve in 2014.
He also predicted Guthrie to play more of a midfield role while Jackson Thurlow was earmarked for defence.
It is likely to be a slightly different role for veteran Jimmy Bartel, as well, with Scott tipping the 2007 Brownlow medallist will spend more time up forward.

.@Marruso89 We'll give George every chance to cement a spot in the midfield, also pretty confident that… (1/2)

.@Marruso89 ... Caddy, Christensen, Duncan, Smedts, Guthrie will improve (2/2) #askthecoach

.@aohan27 We're probably favouring back half at this stage, but he is a genuine utility, so hard to answer where he'll be in 5 years time.
— AFL (@AFL) February 7, 2014
.@aohan27 Good suggestion! We think Thurlow is probably a defender at this stage, and Guthrie certainly has the capability to play midfield.

.@SammyJWhiting It's probably a line-ball call between our guys that have had 3 years in the system. Guthrie, Smedts, Caddy… and Hamish too!

@Lindal_LVA It's a bit more difficult this year because there are fewer spots available, but we would like to see Lang, Jansen, Kolodjashnij
— AFL (@AFL) February 7, 2014
@Lindal_LVA … at AFL level at some stage (2/2)
— AFL (@AFL) February 7, 2014
.@bdcap7 Had hip surgery at end of the season and has been quite restricted, but we think he's got the potential to be one of our best mids.
— AFL (@AFL) February 7, 2014
.@Abbythinksthat Great question. We're undecided, but less ruck than last year #askthecoach
— AFL (@AFL) February 7, 2014
.@osama_hag He's about half way through his knee rehab, which means he's on track to play about mid season. #askthecoach
— AFL (@AFL) February 7, 2014
.@Lucrious We're hoping that Shane can be a permanent member of our AFL forward line. We've put some faith in our young key forwards.
— AFL (@AFL) February 7, 2014
.@JRickard1991 It will be different. We're hoping Hawkins will be back to his best, but the other spots are genuinely up for grabs.
— AFL (@AFL) February 7, 2014
.@GeelongCats Nice try, Tom! Not yet… #askthecoach
— AFL (@AFL) February 7, 2014
.@nechke33 Yep, we do. Not to say Taylor won't play that role, but we think he's got something to offer in other positions #askthecoach
— AFL (@AFL) February 7, 2014
.@TMacDonald_ The likelihood is that there's not, but it depends on how well they play. #askthecoach
— AFL (@AFL) February 7, 2014
.@Schonaaaah Hopefully the same way they have in the past! #askthecoach
— AFL (@AFL) February 7, 2014
.@frazzledazzle05 At this stage they're very high. He will play in the early stages of the NAB Challenge. Is that a fantasy question?!
— AFL (@AFL) February 7, 2014
.@kreyn29 No, we're favouring forward more than back at this stage. #askthecoach
— AFL (@AFL) February 7, 2014
.@edmund59 Yes, he's still one of the best kicks in our team! #askthecoach
— AFL (@AFL) February 7, 2014
