Bulldogs Vice Captain Daniel Giansiracusa played one of his best games for the season in his 200th game, but it wasn’t enough to drag his team across the line against Hawthorn on Sunday.

On a day that provided few highlights for the Doggies, Gia kicked 3 goals and had a season high 13 contested possessions as well as 7 clearances.

It was the 200 gamer’s soaring mark and goal early in the final term however that provided the biggest cheer, giving the Bulldogs some hope by reducing the margin to 23 points after it blew out to as much as 47 in the third term.

To the Bulldogs dismay, the fight back was short lived as the Hawks iced the clock and played tempo football for the remainder of the game — winning by 29 points.

Assistant Coach Paul Williams said he was happy with Gia’s work rate.

“Gia tried really hard all day, especially when he went on ball… his effort was at the required level for the majority of the game,” he said.
