STAR midfielder Patrick Dangerfield is yet to commit his future to Adelaide, saying his sole focus at the moment is on preparing for Saturday's International Rules clash with Ireland in Perth.

Key forward Taylor Walker re-signed with the Crows on Tuesday on a deal that runs until the end of 2018, but the futures of Dangerfield and fellow onballer Rory Sloane remain up in the air.

The star duo come out of contract at the end of next season and are set to attract significant interest on the free agency market.

Dangerfield was the subject of enormous speculation during the 2014 season, and especially the NAB AFL Trade period.

Melbourne chased Dangerfield hard during the trade period and Crows board member Mark Ricciuto did not unequivocally rule out trading Dangerfield, although he was keen for the 24-year-old to sign long-term.

Sloane has already stated his desire to remain a Crow, but Dangerfield gave no such offering on Wednesday when quizzed on the issue.

"It is great to see that Taylor has signed on," Dangerfield said.

"But as I have said before, there is no time limit with (my contract).

"My focus at the moment is solely on preparing for this International Series and then Adelaide's season next year."

New Crows coach Phil Walsh also discussed the captaincy on Tuesday.

The club is close to finalising a player-elected six-man leadership group for next season, from which Walsh will select one captain.

Dangerfield does not think the captaincy is a contentious issue, as he believes Nathan van Berlo remains the obvious choice.

"I don't think it's up for grabs," Dangerfield said.

"I have been really strong on the fact that Nathan has been a terrific leader and continues to be with our football club.

"We have a great group of young leaders at the club. But Nathan's standing within our team is certainly unquestioned within our four walls."

Dangerfield said his body was feeling in good shape after struggling with a number of injury concerns throughout last season. He believes he’s not far off the shape he would be in for the start of an AFL season.

"To be honest it's pretty close," Dangerfield said.

"I've been training for a couple of weeks back with the Crows, so it's pretty good.

"We've got a new coach and a few new staff, so it's good to meet them and have a bit of a run around with the younger guys as well.”
