Palmer, who underwent a knee reconstruction after suffering a season ending injury in round five, has agreed to a one year extension on his current three-year contract, which will take him through to the end of 2011.
Ryan Crowley, who incurred a season-ending foot injury in round six, has agreed to terms for a new two-year contract that sees him commit to the club through to the end of 2011, while Dean Solomon and Kepler Bradley have agreed to one-year extensions taking them through to the end of 2010.
Meanwhile, the club has shown its faith in exciting first-year player Tim Ruffles, who is expected to miss up to 12 months of football after undergoing a knee reconstruction following an injury suffered in only his third AFL game in round 17.
The 18-year-old accepted the offer of a one-year extension on his current two-year contract, which takes him through to the end of 2011.
General manager of player management Brad Lloyd said the five re-signings were important to the future direction of the club.
“Rhys is the reigning NAB Rising Star and an important part of our long-term future. We are delighted that he has committed to Fremantle through to the end of 2011,” he said.
“Following his surgery earlier in the season, Rhys has been working very diligently on his rehabilitation and we are really looking forward to having him back out on the field next season.”
Lloyd said that Crowley, who played only six games, was sorely missed during season 2009.
“Ryan is an important player for the club and we are really looking forward to having him back in action in 2010,” he said.
