WEST Coast and Essendon are poised to unveil last year’s first-round picks when the two teams square off in a NAB Cup opener at Subiaco on Friday night.

The Eagles and Bombers have released their 29-man squads for the round one clash, and each side looks set to field competitive outfits for the pre-season match.

West Coast fans will have plenty of young talent to feast their eyes on, with No.7 selection from the 2009 NAB AFL Draft Brad Sheppard named in the squad.

Joining Sheppard in the West Coast squad are 2008 draftees Jordan Jones and Ashley Smith, while developing big man Tony Notte could also play.

Former Brisbane Lion Bradd Dalziell, now back in his home state, is in line to play his first game in West Coast colours.

For Essendon, veteran Dustin Fletcher is among the squad but it will largely be a young line-up that heads west to meet John Worsfold’s team.

Jake Melksham, the no.10 draft pick from last year, is likely to play his first game in the red and black, while fellow youngster Travis Colyer might also line up.

Former Hawk Mark Williams could play his first match since crossing to his new club, while mature-age recruit Kyle Hardingham has also been included in the Bombers’ squad.
