RICHMOND is among the clubs interested in Brisbane Lions midfielder James Aish, who is expected to be on the trade table next month.
Having tried hard to lure Greater Western Sydney star Adam Treloar to the club, the Tigers are understood to be in the mix for Aish as they look to bolster their impressive midfield unit.
The Tigers put in a strong bid to win Treloar's services but the damaging on-baller this week confirmed Collingwood as his preferred destination during October's two-week trade period.
Richmond is also pursuing Carlton speedster Chris Yarran having missed out on Geelong's Steven Motlop, and the club has also been linked to Blues free agent Matthew Kreuzer.
Aish is also in their sights and appears set to officially ask the Lions to be traded after holding off contract talks with the club for the past year.
However, this has not yet happened, despite the 19-year-old meeting with the club recently. The South Australian has not yet confirmed his intentions to seek a trade.
The No.7 draft pick has also attracted the interest of Carlton and the Magpies, who appear set to be two of the major players in the exchange period. St Kilda has also expressed some interest in the classy ball-user.
Aish enjoyed a stellar debut season for the Lions in 2014, playing all bar one game and averaging 18 disposals. He also finished fourth in the voting for the NAB AFL Rising Star award.
However, he has battled to find any form this season, was dropped to the NEAFL earlier in the year and finished the Lions' campaign on the sidelines with a broken thumb.
The Lions will be active in the trade and free agency markets, with Aish one of several players likely to quit the club.
Midfielder Jack Redden has already asked to be traded despite being contracted to the end of 2016, while Matthew Leuenberger is expected to find a new home through free agency.
Although the free agency period officially starts on Friday, October 9 and the trade period three days later on Monday, October 12, clubs are already well down the way of organising deals.
