SYDNEY star Dane Rampe won't be part of any player movement conversations next season after extending his deal with the club by a further three years.
Already signed with the Swans for next season, Rampe is now tied to the club until at least the end of 2022, which will likely see him finish his career at the club.
The 2016 All Australian defender is yet another of Sydney's success stories after being selected at the 2012 NAB AFL rookie draft following years of being overlooked.
He's played 23-plus games in five of his six seasons in the League, with a broken arm suffered in a freak accident in 2017 the only major injury of his career.
CLUB LISTS COMPARED Oldest? Youngest? Most experienced?
In recent times, big names like Richmond's Dustin Martin, Greater Western Sydney's Josh Kelly and former Gold Coast now Tigers star Tom Lynch have attracted plenty of media speculation in the final season of their contracts, something Rampe was keen to avoid.
The Sydney local told AFL.com.au on Friday that he had little interest in seeing what other clubs had to offer him next season.
"It came together pretty easily, the club approached me a little bit earlier than I would have thought, but I'm obviously rapt," he said.
I'm committed to the Swans, I'm really excited with the group we have and being a local boy, I didn't want to go anywhere.
"I think the club knew that as well, so it probably helped from their end."
Rampe has been back at pre-season training for the past fortnight with the rest of the Swans' more experienced players, part of a new-look squad that welcomed 10 new recruits over the off-season.
He said seeing so many new faces on the track was exciting, but at the same time, he has struggled coming to terms with the absence of good mate and three-time All Australian Dan Hannebery, who was traded to St Kilda over summer.
"It's pretty different and a little bit upsetting to be honest," he said.
"I was very close with Dan, but at the end of the day I guess that’s footy and that’s the industry we're in.
FULL FIXTURE Every round, every game
"You've got to move on and that’s the harsh reality.
"We've turned over a quarter of our list and it's probably the biggest turnover since my first year at the club in 2013.
"The demographic of the list is changing. I think 60 per cent of our guys are 24 or under, so we're really excited to get into this new stage."
Sydney's defence has been one of coach John Longmire's greatest strengths, with Rampe and fellow backmen such as 2018 club champion Jake Lloyd, veterans Jarrad McVeigh, Heath Grundy and Nick Smith, and youngster Callum Mills forming a formidable and settled group.
Mills has been tipped to jump ship next year and move into the midfield rotation as his career develops, but Rampe isn't sure the former NAB AFL Rising Star will be lost to the backline for good in 2019.
"He's obviously a really valued member of the backline, his strengths are obviously his intercept marking in that third-tall role," he said.
"He's going to be pushing his case for a move to the midfield, but I dare say he'll split his time 50/50 between the two."
