Adcock’s impending milestone means that his name will be added to the number 7 locker door beneath former Club greats including Warwick Irwin, Allan Ruthven, Haydn Bunton, Jarrod Molloy, Wally Clark, Michael Gale and Scott McIvor who also played 100 games with the Club in that particular guernsey number.
In fact, the number 7 locker will now become the most populated at the Club with a total of eight Club ‘centurions’ listed on it.
Adcock also becomes the fifth Lions player to reach 100 games this year behind Matt Maguire (Round 1), Justin Sherman (Round 3), Michael Rischitelli (Round 11) and Daniel Merrett (Round 19) and was pleased with the achievement.
“It’s a really good honour,” Adcock said prior to Thursday’s training session at the Gabba.
“I was actually a chance of playing my 100th game last year, and then for a moment it looked like I wasn’t even going to make it this year.”
“It kept dragging out and took a little bit longer than I probably thought in the end,” he said.
“But there’s still two days to go, so hopefully I can get over the line.”
The 24 year-old has been a prominent player for the Lions since being drafted to the Club with Pick No.33 overall in the 2003 AFL National Draft.
He played two senior games in his debut season before a breakthrough year in 2005 saw him receive an AFL Rising Star Nomination, be named Lions Rookie of the Year, receive the Lions’ Most Improved Player award and finish third in the Club Champion count.
He improved his position on Club Champion night two years later when he finished Runner-Up in the Merrett Murray Medal behind skipper Jonathan Brown in 2007.
Adcock has long been considered as future leader of the Club and is the youngest member of the existing Lions Leadership Group.
