Carlton Senior Coach Brett Ratten has tempered his comments regarding Fremantle’s policy of resting players in the lead-up to Friday night’s match at Subiaco Oval.

Ratten’s initial questioning of Fremantle’s decision to field a below par 22 for last weekend’s match (which resulted in the Dockers’ 116-point annihilation at the hands of Hawthorn in Launceston) drew criticism from Dockers Senior Coach Mark Harvey.

But Ratten qualified his remarks in Perth.

“I think that at the end of the game when the siren goes, it will be a great move or it will be one that will be looked at,” Ratten said.

“So I suppose  if we were in a similar position . . . (and had the chance to) rest players and do something similar, we probably would.”

Fremantle is expected to make at least eight changes to the team which capitulated to the Hawks.
