The moment: Bernie Vince is not the tallest player in the AFL, but when James Podsiadly backed into a pack he still looked certain to mark the ball. Vince couldn’t resist going for a hanger. He took flight over Podsiadly and David Wojcinski, bringing the Adelaide crowd to its feet and getting his teammates fired up for their eventual upset win.

2. Collingwood 15.10 (100) d St Kilda 6.16 (52) at the MCG

The moment: Leon Davis has copped some criticism for this season but he showed he was still capable of his best early in the third term. Under a high ball and with Lenny Hayes breathing down his neck, Davis cleverly tapped the ball from hand to foot and slotted the Pies' first of the second half before they stormed to victory.

3. Hawthorn 17.16 (118) d Brisbane Lions 7.1 (43) at Aurora Stadium

The moment: Though he didn't play on Saturday, superstar Lance 'Buddy' Franklin was at Aurora Stadium in spirit. During Hawthorn's purple-patch in a dominant third quarter, both Wayde Skipper and Clinton Young slotted long-range efforts from hard on the left forward-flank - Franklin's regular haunt - much to the delight of rejoicing Hawks fans around the ground.

4. West Coast 20.12 (132) d Essendon 14.16 (100) at Etihad Stadium

The moment: Almost all of Mark LeCras’ dozen goals had something special about them, but perhaps his 11th was the most memorable. He gathered around the 50m line, dished off a handball to Ashton Hams, received it back, and dished off to Matt Priddis before running on to convert a superb right-foot snap.

5. Western Bulldogs 12.11 (83) d Port Adelaide 7.5 (47) at TIO Stadium

The moment: Port Adelaide defender Paul Stewart kept his eyes on the ball and forgot all about his body. Daniel Giansiracusa had just snapped towards goal, and Stewart, desperate to stop the ball, ran underneath it while looking skyward. He cannoned into the goal post at high speed. He got back to his feet, clearly annoyed that his effort was unsuccessful.

6. Sydney Swans 16.11 (107) d Carlton 10.8 (68) at Etihad Stadium

The moment: It was a dirty day for Blues at Etihad Stadium, but Jeff Garlett provided one of few highlights. Late in the fourth quarter and with the game out of reach, Garlett flew above the pack to pull down a spectacular mark. However, true to the Blues' day, he missed from barely 20 metres out.

7. North Melbourne 15.13 (103) d Richmond 7.11 (53) at the MCG

The moment: After crunching two Tigers in a marking contest, Todd Goldstein was setting the example for his teammates to follow. With Mitch Farmer set to relieve a Tigers defence under siege, the big man lunged at Farmer, with the resulting kick landing in the hands of live-wire forward Matt Campbell. It epitomised the Roos' relentless pressure on their opponents.

8. Fremantle 11.16 (82) d Melbourne 10.11 (71) at Subiaco Oval

The moment: Fremantle coughed up a 39-point half-time lead and looked in danger of losing to Melbourne before Hayden Ballantyne magic sealed the win. Ballantyne swooped onto a ball, ran near the boundary and drilled it right through the middle on his non-preferred left boot to kick his fourth for the day and ensure a commanding 10-point advantage.
