RUCKMAN Mitch Clark is the latest Brisbane Lions player to request a trade, according to separate reports in the Herald Sun and on Channel 9’s The Footy Show.

Clark, 22, is contracted to the Lions, but has requested a trade home to Western Australia, where he hopes to play with Fremantle.

The Lions, who have already lost best-and-fairest winner Michael Rischitelli to Gold Coast, are also reeling from utility Jared Brennan’s decision to leave the club and are unlikely to agree to a trade for Clark.

The Herald Sun also reports the Lions and Suns have struck a deal for Brennan, with the AFL’s 17th team agreeing to relinquish a top-10 draft pick in exchange for the 26-year-old.

The Lions could receive another first-round pick ahead of November’s NAB AFL Draft, with the Western Bulldogs considering on-trading the pick they received as compensation for Gold Coast recruit Jarrod Harbrow to secure Justin Sherman.

It’s understood Sherman’s preferred destination is Victoria, but the contracted midfielder could be lured to the Sydney Swans by a generous offer that exceeds those from Richmond and the Bulldogs.

The Lions have ruled out trading controversial full forward Brendan Fevola and are also poised to sign star duo Simon Black and Josh Drummond, but could part ways with veteran Ash McGrath to help ease the strain of their bulging salary cap, according to reports in The Australian newspaper.

Richmond is also interested in line-breaking midfielder Sherman and could have a draft pick to spare if talks between Adelaide and onballer Richard Tambling progress.

Tambling met with Crows officials in Adelaide earlier this week, according to reports in the Advertiser.

The former No.4 draft pick has two years to run on his contract at Punt Road, but it’s believed the Tigers are open to the idea of trading him.

Carlton also appears set for a busy exchange period after utility Shaun Grigg joined ruckman Sam Jacobs and former first-round draft pick Andrew Walker in requesting a trade.

The Age newspaper reports Grigg is keen to get to Richmond and could form part of a deal which would see Tigers defender Will Thursfield join the Blues.

Carlton has ruled out drafting retired Melbourne skipper James McDonald, despite reports to the contrary, but has joined Collingwood and Hawthorn in the race for homeward-bound Fremantle defender Chris Tarrant.

The Pies could pick up an extra selection in the November draft if they can find a suitable trade for out-of-favour ruckman Josh Fraser, who has been linked to Fremantle and Gold Coast.
