About the Role:
Reporting to the VFLW Senior Coach and GM of Football at Box Hill Hawks, we are seeking a passionate and driven Assistant Coach. This will provide the opportunity to gain valuable experience within an elite football program, alongside be immersed within a fun and supportive environment.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Support the implementation of the football strategy and game plan in collaboration with other coaching staff, led by the Senior Coach
- Build and maintain strong relationships with all VFLW players and staff ensuring a positive experience for those entering, engaging and exiting the Box Hill Hawks
- Ensure a shared understanding and adoption of the Club values and behaviours by all players and support staff
- Foster an environment of effective communication where feedback is openly given and received from the playing group, leadership group and coaching group
- Plan components of training sessions and match preparation as directed by the Senior Coach
- Analyse, code and cut game and training vision for review, analysis and education
- Provide game day support to Senior Coach, coaches and players – implementing game plan, identify trends, suggesting solutions
The ideal candidate:
You have the ability to influence, manage and motivate athletes and coaching staff with proven experience in supporting the development of a high-performance team.
You are an excellent communicator, you can quickly build rapport, engage with diverse groups, and build effective relationships across the Club.
Ideally you will have an AFL Level 2 Coaching Accreditation, this is desirable, however, not necessary.
With the ability to work in high pressure environments with competing demands.
Experience with Sports Code and HUDL are highly desirable, however not essential.
This role does require attendance at all training sessions (2 nights per week including captain’s run); match selection meetings; game days and Club events as required.
For development opportunities, attend one Hawthorn Football Club meeting / training session per week.

This role will be based at Box Hill City Oval. We support flexible working arrangements, whether it be form home, from Waverly Park (HFC HQ), or another suitable environment.
