ADELAIDE may be without both its captain and vice-captain for round one's big clash with Greater Western Sydney.

Taylor Walker and Rory Sloane will be pushing to prove their fitness for the match, with Walker sitting out the final quarter of the Crows' JLT Community Series game against the Brisbane Lions after experiencing hamstring tightness.

He had already kicked three goals before coming off the field, and Adelaide's general manager of high performance Matt Hass said the club had taken a conservative approach with its captain.

Who plays in round one?

"We took him from the ground, iced up and made sure that he didn't do any damage to that hamstring," Hass said on Adelaide's website.

"We've investigated it and he's commenced running already this week.

"He's doing everything he can to tick the boxes that he needs to, to try and get up for round one."

Sloane has not played a pre-season match after fracturing his eye socket at training in January.

He only started running again last week, but Hass said he is tracking well for round one.

"Sloaney's progressing really well. We're basically guided by the surgeon on healing timeframes with the bone.

"Again, he's ticking (off) everything that we need and has done everything we've asked of him."

Midfielders Brad Crouch and Scott Thompson will make their return to footy via the SANFL, after missing all pre-season matches with injury.

Crouch has resumed kicking and running after hurting his hamstring for a third time in early January. He was initially expected to play in the JLT Community Series, but his recovery has taken longer than first planned.

Thompson injured his shoulder in January and has just resumed contact work. He is expected to be available for AFL selection early in the season.

Defender Jake Lever (minor hamstring strain) has returned to the main training group but will not have a pre-season match under his belt before round one, as the Crows' SANFL side do not have a practice game this weekend.

Riley Knight (achilles soreness) and Dean Gore (concussion) are available for selection after missing the Crows' win over the Lions.
