Richmond will not underestimate the Gold Coast Suns today in Cairns, according to defender Brett Deledio.
The Tigers are searching for their sixth win of the season, after back-to-back losses to Carlton and Essendon.
“We expect to win every game, but you don’t want to disrespect any opposition you play, and we’re expecting a good fight from a lot of quality players from the Suns,” Deledio said.
“We’re going to have to be on top of our game.”
The Tigers arrived in Cairns on Thursday, and had a first look at the redeveloped facilities at Cazaly’s Stadium yesterday.
Hundreds of Richmond fans watched the team’s training session, participated in a football clinic and took the opportunity to mingle with the players.
“It’s good to see a lot of people here, cheering the Tigers on,” Deledio said.
“The great thing about our fans is that they always come out to support us, no matter where we play.”
A capacity crowd of more than 10,000 is expected for the match, the first of three Richmond home games against the Suns in Cairns over the next three seasons.
