About the Collingwood Football Club:
Collingwood Football Club (CFC) was founded in 1892.
Local residents, community and business leaders and politicians all hoped that having their own football club could help bring a measure of pride to a downtrodden suburb.
In 2024, CFC is one of the great icons of Australian sport. Our history spans 130 years, 16 premierships and more finals appearances than any other club. Most importantly, Collingwood has grown from being a football club to a sports club with a commitment to our community. Collingwood is not made by a President, a Captain, a Coach or a CEO. It’s not just any one player, employee, supporter or fan, Collingwood is made by many.

About the role:
Reporting to the Head of Events and Activations, the Activations Manager will play a key role in developing and delivering exceptional fan facing experiences across all business streams.

Working in conjunction with the Executive General Manager Communications, Content & Customer and the Head of Events and Activations, this role will be responsible for the end-to-end project management of numerous key events for the Club.

The Activations Manager will also manage and guide the Activations Coordinator in delivering game day and fan experiences, while providing additional support to the Senior Leadership team. Key focuses for this role will be game day production and operations, themed rounds, sports presentation, pre-game/post-game activations. 

Duties and Responsibilities:
General

  • Work with senior leaders to develop annual game day strategy and plans.
  • Work with the Activations Coordinator to deliver game day and fan experiences.
  • Key focus on compliance and risk management.
  • Budget forecasting, tracking and management across all key projects.
  • End-to-end project management and execution of fan facing experiences across all business streams, including but not limited to, game day production and operations, themed rounds, sports presentation, pre-game/post-game activations.
  • Assistance with other projects as directed by senior leadership.

Match Day Production + Theming

  • Management of key operations at all team match days in line with relevant league guidelines.
  • Lead the development of creative assets with the internal design team and external creative agencies to deliver branded elements for home-game venues at the MCG, Marvel Stadium and Victoria Park and other fan activations, ensuring creative is aligned to the overarching fan experience plan and complies with Collingwood brand guidelines.
  • Lead the annual development of themed match day activation plans, overarching fan-experience creative and key experience strategies in conjunction with Event Partnerships Manager.
  • Lead the development of an entertainment and production program to execute across AFL and AFLW home games, including Game Day hosts, MCs, on field activations, music and productions providers.

Stakeholder Integration

  • Work with key stakeholders including community and commercial partners across fan activations, including match days.
  • Foster innovative and collaborative efforts with partnerships, events, community, digital and communications teams for all fan experiences.

People Leadership

  • Lead the Activations stream, including the capacity planning, workflow management and overall wellbeing of all direct reports in conjunction with senior leadership.
  • Manage the Activations Coordinator and any Activations Interns to deliver production and experiences.

About you:
To be successful as the Activations Manager, you will have:

  • Industry Experience as an Activations Manager, or similar role (~3 Years).
  • Impeccable organisational and time management skills with the flexibility to manage a range of concurrent projects with conflicting deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Managerial experience and a trusted leader.
  • Ability to build trust and rapport quickly with internal stakeholders.
  • Be able to problem solve in a fast-moving environment.
  • Live event management, including sports presentation and/or broadcast events, is desirable.
