PORT ADELAIDE star Chad Cornes has ensured his verbal stoush with Carlton spearhead Brendan Fevola will continue after firing another shot at the controversial full forward on Sunday.
Fevola reignited debate between the star pair two weeks ago when he, again, accused Cornes of pulling out of a contest when the two sides met at AAMI Stadium in round 19 last season.
Fevola had a dirty night against the Power in Adelaide last week, but the Carlton star had the last laugh with a goal after the siren in the Blues’ stunning come-from-behind win.
Cornes took a gutsy mark over Fevola during the game, but was hampered by knee and finger injuries and was bitterly disappointed with his inability to have a major impact on the match.
“I didn’t see The Footy Show when he said it [that I didn’t put my head over the ball] and I didn’t take too much notice of what he said because I don’t have much respect for him,” Cornes told Adelaide’s Sunday Mail.
“It’s just a bit of a joke more than anything, but in saying that, you would’ve liked to have come out and had a good game and had a win so after the game you could go up, shake his hand, and he’s looking like the idiot.
“But there’s a thing called karma and I’m sure, one day, it will turn around.
“We’ve got another chance to play Carlton later in the year and I’ve already pencilled that in to get fired up for.”
