A 7 goal last term was not enough for Sandringham to get over line against 2nd place Port Melbourne on Sunday.

Going in to the last quarter 20 points down the Zebras rallied and almost stole the match, but in the end Port Melbourne were to good and got up by 5 points.

Going into the match Sandringham were without around 14 players due to injury and the injury list got worse with Scott Thompson and Ezra Poyas spending the 2nd half on the bench.

Cameron Hunter who returned from injury was impressive and despite his light frame was super courageous in the air and on the ground.

Rookie List player Adam Fisher won plenty of possesions in the midfield and kept up his recent good form. While Nathan Carroll played a solid game in defence for the Zebras.

It was Sandringham players Lachlan Oakley who booted 8 goals, Mark Haynes and former Demon David Robbins who stood up for Sandy in the effort of trying to snatch the game away from Port.
