NORTH Melbourne defender Lachie Hansen will have to pass a concussion test after being shirt-fronted when chasing an opponent while playing for the Kangaroo's VFL-affiliate Werribee.
The bump, which occurred late in the first quarter, collected Hansen high, forcing him from the ground with concussion and he was not able to take any further part in the game.
The Williamstown player, Cameron Lockwood, who elected to run past the play and bump Hansen to shepherd his teammate, accepted a two-week suspension from the VFL for the bump.
The VFL tribunal determined the conduct as careless, high impact and high contact. Lockwood was given a three-week sanction, which was reduced to two with a guilty plea and no sanctions in the past 12 months.
Werribee officials contacted by AFL.com.au did not want to comment on the incident and North Melbourne accepted the tribunal's decision.
The 27-year-old Hansen has had a tough year, playing only one senior game as he tries to break back into the unbeaten ladder leaders.
He was playing his third VFL game of the season.
North Melbourne football manager Geoff Walsh told the club website Hansen would be tested ahead of this week's game.
"Lachie has recovered well, but we’ll go through all the required concussion tests this week before he’s given the all clear to play," Walsh said.
