The entire 2010 playing list, together with coach Brett Ratten and the coaching staff for the two-day visit that will see the players visit schools in Healesville, Kinglake, local hospitals and aged-care facilities in the region.
For Marc Murphy and Matthew Kreuzer the visit to the area that was devastated by the Black Saturday bushfires of last year will have significant meaning. Last year, just six days after the tragic events of Black Saturday, Murphy and Kreuzer visited the area in what was a very emotional time.
“I visited the area in the week after the tragic bushfires last year and saw first-hand the devastation that was caused. It was a very emotional day and I will never forget the reaction from the local people when they met us. This is another great opportunity to give something back to the affected communities and I know everyone at the Club is keen to be involved with the communities and to raise funds for Auskick and the affected sporting groups in the area,” Murphy said.
Children will have the chance to meet the Carlton stars during the school clinics as well as during the meet and greet Super Clinic at Healesville on Wednesday afternoon.
A highlight of Carlton’s visit will be the Community Fundraising Dinner to be held at the Yarra Glen Racecourse on Wednesday February 3 with all players in attendance to help raise money for the local fire affected sporting communities in the area.
This “Navy Blues & Yellow Ribbon Fundraising Dinner” will see a Carlton player sitting on every table with Brett Ratten, Chris Judd and 2009 first round draft selection, Kane Lucas, as the special guest speakers during the evening.
