AFL club Port Adelaide has posted a profit of more than $6,000 for 2006, club president Greg Boulton says.

Port recorded a consolidated profit of $326,036 prior to paying its $320,000 SANFL sub-licence distribution, Mr Boulton said.

The profit result, while meagre, is a welcome turnaround from the club's loss of more than $500,000 last year.

"Two thousand and six represents a solid year for the Port Adelaide Football Club off the field with some real positives including increased sponsorship revenue," Mr Boulton said.

"We are confident the very good work ... will be reflected in future financial results."

Mr Boulton said the club's net asset position remained strong at $4.7 million.
