St Kilda Football Manager Greg Hutchison has put to bed any supposed injury rumours involving Saints captain, Nick Riewoldt.

Speculation surfaced out of Moorabbin this afternoon that Riewoldt had suffered an injury, following a closed training session at Linen House Oval today.

However, speaking on 3AW this evening Hutchison confirmed that reports relating to Riewoldt were inaccurate and that the skipper was available for this weekend’s Round 1 clash with the Swans at ANZ Stadium.

“Nick is certainly going to play this weekend” Hutchison said.

Understanding the interest surrounding the St Kilda Captain, Hutchison said that Riewoldt had left the training track for treatment but returned shortly after and completed the remainder of the training session, which no doubt Saints fans will be pleased to hear.

“Ten minutes into training he just had a low ball that he had to go for and he pulled up a bit short and expressed a bit of concern. He obviously went off the ground and got some treatment from the doctors and physios, where he did another 40-45 mins worth of training, so he got through really well in the end” Hutchison told 3AW.

As always, due diligence from the Saints doctors and medical staff will be demonstrated and the Club will follow routine procedure.

“I’m sure our doctors will do everything they have to do and we’ll get some sort of scans done, there’ll be no problems with that. The good thing is he’s 100% fine and he’ll be ready to play on the weekend” Hutchison said on radio.

With St Kilda’s membership today reaching 34,893 and with 7,430 of this number being new members, the Club’s target for 36,000 members by our first home game (Rd 2 v Kangaroos) is within reach.
