Geelong defender Andrew Mackie believes Melbourne is setting itself to claim a major victory on the run in to the end of the season and that the Cats will need to be on guard or risk defeat on Saturday.

The Cats and Dees clash at Skilled Stadium on Saturday, with Melbourne needing a win to keep alive its top eight hopes.

“I can see they’re craving a scalp, and they will see us as one of those,” Mackie said on CAT CHAT.

“It’s not going to be easy at all. From our point of view I would like to see us implement what we started off on the weekend against Richmond and carry on from there.”

Also on CAT CHAT This week, the panel discussed:

  • The win over Richmond
  • A different forward structure with the small forwards dominating
  • Allen Christensen’s rising star nomination
  • Andrew Walker’s great mark for Carlton
  • The amazing finish in the western derby
  • Neil Craig’s departure from the Crows
  • Cadel Evans Tour de France win and where it rates in Australian sporting history.
