The St Kilda Football Club has a rich history spanning across three centuries. Born in Melbourne’s south-east in 1873, the Saints have been represented by over 1500 committed players - the most in AFL/VFL history.

Our Club history started with Bill Ahern, who made his debut in the first ever St Kilda game played 1897 against Collingwood at Victoria Park, and continues with Adam Pattison, the most recent player to make his debut for the Saints, last weekend against North Melbourne.

As a Club we appreciate where we have come from and who has helped us get to where we are now, namely those that have pulled on the red, white and black jumper, our players. Now, we head into the 2010 season, we want to recognise the contribution of our former players by presenting each living player with a jumper displaying their playing order and jumper number.

There are over 600 former players still alive today, and as part of our official Former Player Recognition Program, the Club intends to present a jumper to every one of these Saints whether they have played one or 200 games.

This program will be an integral part of our home match day functions in the Halo Coterie and the Robert Harvey Room, both part of the Level 2 social dining area.

With the first official jumper presentations made by St Kilda President, Greg Westaway, before last weekend’s Round 2 match against North Melbourne, we were able to recognise two great players from two very different eras.

Please find below details on the two Saints players recognised on at our first home match at Etihad Stadium last weekend;

Alan Morrow - 1966 Premiership Player and St Kilda Hall of Fame member. A broad-shouldered, strong-legged and big-hearted ruckman who was one of the League's best despite being just on six feet tall. Alan was known for being a tremendously hard worker and as tough as nails.

Playing Order - #1040
Numbers Worn - 8
Years Played - 1957-66
163 games, 151 goals
Honours - 1966 Premiership Player, St Kilda Hall of Fame member

Jayson Daniels - Playing over 100 games for the Saints over a period of eight years. A good ball getter and tenacious in defence, Jayson often played key tagging roles.

The Club would like to formally congratulation both Alan and Jayson, and look forward to having the opportunity to recognise more of our great players over the course of the Season.
