Harsher restrictions have been placed on the team fielded by the Swans to even out the competition. The Swans can now only field 13 listed players at any time.
Queanbeyan led at each break throughout the game but were only in front of the Swans by two points at half time.
Swans Reserves Luke Brennan started the season strongly with best on ground performances, while Nick Davis led the goal scoring with five goals.
Brennan was recruited as a Rookie, from Hawthorn, in 2006 and was promoted to the Swans’ senior list towards the end of the season before injuring a hamstring.
New recruit Patrick Vezspremi showed promise with two goals. He was picked up in the draft last year from the Northern Knights at number 11. He was named in the All-Australian U18 team in 2006 and was a leading forward for the Knights in their qualifying final last year kicking eight goals, despite a shoulder injury.
The Swans Reserves play Belconnen next week, on Saturday at 3.15pm, as the curtain raiser to the Swans and West Coast game at ANZ Stadium.
