The Umpire Development Officer is a jointly funded position between AFLQ and AFL Brisbane Juniors. Geographically the role covers an area from Beenleigh to Bribie Island and Victoria Point to Ipswich.

The position is responsible for coordinating umpire appointments from the U11 to U16 including Youth Girls for Brisbane Juniors and as required coordinate boundary appointments for AFLQ community football. In total there is approximately 130 appointments made each week during the competition season and it is the target of the role to ensure 100% coverage.

The role provides a valuable role in linking the activities of the AFLQ School Based Umpire Academies, Brisbane Junior Umpires and the AFLQ U18 and Womens Competition umpires. The role is integral to facilitating the umpire development pathway between club based umpiring and the Brisbane Juniors to the AFLQ Umpire Talent Identification Program.

The successful applicant is expected to establish and maintain appropriate umpire administration and management practices, including recruiting, development and retention of umpires within organised umpire groups and club based umpires. The position will be supported with resources and assistance by both AFLQ and AFL Brisbane Juniors staff to improve umpiring within the defined region.
