Boak missed the game against Fremantle last weekend with groin soreness, but has been cleared to return this week after getting through training on Thursday unscathed.
Injured pair Hamish Hartlett (quad) and Robbie Gray also joined in the light session and coach Mark Williams said the pair was on the verge of making a return either with the Power or in the SANFL.
“I think Hamish and Robbie will play in the next couple of weeks. They’ve been training a lot and they seem to be well on the way back to recovery and playing,” Williams said on Thursday.
Dashing half-back Nathan Krakouer (groin) will play his first game in two months for the Port Adelaide Magpies in the SANFL this weekend.
The Power will be out to end a seven-game losing streak at AAMI Stadium, but face a tough challenge up against the in-form Pies.
Collingwood has won five of the last six games played between the two sides and is primed for a top-four finish this season.
The Port Adelaide players have identified a lack of confidence as one of the reasons behind their form slump and Williams said his side needed to start well to regain that winning feeling on Friday night.
“It’s about just putting your head over the ball and having a crack at it. It’s amazing what happens when you start like that,” Williams said.
“In round seven we were playing a particular way, winning games and everyone was really happy with how we were going. Now we’ve lost some games and people find it difficult to work out the difference.
“The difference is that we haven’t won, but we’re still trying to play the same way. We certainly want to play quickly, kick goals, win each quarter, play contested footy and tackle hard. There’s always an opposition that wants to do similar things and at the moment we just haven’t been good enough to beat them.”
The game against Collingwood this week is Port Adelaide’s one and only Friday night fixture this season and Williams said he would encourage his players to make the most of the opportunity to play in front of a national audience.
“All teams have that desire to get out there and show your best stuff . Collingwood play on Friday night lots of times and in front of big audiences. We don’t get the opportunity very often and everyone wants to embrace it,” he said.
Williams stunned the football world last week when he admitted he would be amazed still to be at Port Adelaide at the end of next season unless he secured another premiership flag.
On Friday, Williams stood by his candid statement and said he intended to see out his contract with the club.
“I said I’d be amazed that in a year-and-a-half’s time unless we won the premiership I’d be here and I agree with that still.”
