The AFL has been notified that Sydney Swans listed player Michael Talia was alleged to have been found with a quantity of a prohibited substance in Double Bay early on Sunday morning.
He will appear in Waverley Local Court next month to answer a charge.
AFL General Manager Football Operations Mark Evans said the AFL would await the court date before determining with the club what action the player may face under AFL Rules. Talia is currently injured and has not played since round one. He has now been stood down by the club from training and club activities.
'The matter is currently before the courts,' Mr Evans said.
'All players remain subject to the AFL's Illicit Drug Policy and any further action will be determined at a later time.
