ADELAIDE will be without in-form forward Tom Lynch for its crunch clash with Richmond at Adelaide Oval on Thursday night.

The 2017 Grand Final rematch looms as important, with both sides sitting 7-5, albeit with the Crows having a percentage nearly 20 points higher.

Lynch, 28, injured a calf during the warm-up to the Greater Western Sydney clash on Saturday night.

He hopes to be available to face Geelong after his side's round 14 bye.

Adelaide medico Steve Saunders explained the injury to afc.com.au.

"The MRI has today (Monday) confirmed the initial clinical assessment, that being of a low-level calf strain involving the central aponeurosis," Saunders said.

"Tom will be unavailable for selection this week as he commences treatment and rehabilitation.

"We will re-evaluate his progress at the end of the week and aim to make training progressions that would see him prepare for the Geelong game after the bye."

Lynch is ranked No.7 for score involvements per game and had twice booted three goals over his past three matches.
