FREMANTLE speedster Stephen Hill has signed a two-year contract with the club, locking him in until the end of 2021.

Hill and brother Bradley have both been the subject of trade discussions in recent times, but after a turbulent two weeks at the club – which saw coach Ross Lyon and CEO Steve Rosich sacked – the 29-year-old has recommitted.

Hill's 2019 was decimated by quad and calf injuries, managing just three senior games, taking his career tally to 206 over 11 seasons.

"I've been here for 11 years now, and I love the playing group," Hill said in a video on the club website. 

"It was pretty easy to stay with this club, to be able to get another two years, I'm pretty excited. I've had a rough couple of years with injuries, but I'm confident I can get them right and excited to play some footy," Hill said.

"I feel like we're a young group and I'm excited to be part of the next couple of years, hopefully we can see some success."

Fremantle has lost a fair bit of experience in the last couple of weeks with the retirements of Aaron Sandilands and Hayden Ballantyne.

It leaves Hill as one of the most senior players at the club, despite him being a year shy of 30.

"I think I'm the second oldest at the club behind Dave Mundy, so I'm a senior player and I'm just going to keep leading with this young group and share my knowledge," Hill said.

"I know when I was a young kid coming through, having the senior guys like 'Pav' (Matthew Pavlich) and (Luke) McPharlin, guys like that you look up to, it plays a big part."
