PORT Adelaide are close to locking in winger Karl Amon and defender Riley Bonner to new deals to stay at Alberton.

AFL.com.au understands the Power are also on the verge of extending the contract of second-year forward Kane Farrell.

Amon – who turns 24 next Monday - has made the most of the opportunity created by Jared Polec's move to North Melbourne.

He is averaging 19.7 disposals per game in his 15 games this season – the equal-most he's played in a season since arriving at the Power as the 68th pick in the 2013 NAB AFL Draft.

Amon discussed the possibility of moving back to Victoria during last year's trade period, but he's now happy to stay after establishing himself in the side.

Bonner, 22, has played 40 games since being taken with the 37th pick in the 2015 draft.

The West Adelaide product is averaging 18.4 disposals and 3.4 inside 50s in 17 games this season, having played every game since the round 11 win against St Kilda in Shanghai.

He's played mostly across half-back, but has also shown his versatility by having stints on the wing.

Farrell, 20, has played 12 games for the Power, including seven this season, after arriving as the 51st pick in the 2017 draft.

The lively half-forward burst on to the scene in just his second senior game with three goals in the first quarter of last year's round 20 Showdown.

The Power have locked in their young core for the future, ruckman Peter Ladhams (2022), forward Todd Marshall (2022), defender Tom Clurey (2023) and first-round draft picks Connor Rozee, Xavier Duursma and Zak Butters (2022) all signing contract extensions in the past few months.

Midfielder Dan Houston (2022) and utility Dougal Howard (2022) put pen to paper on new deals at the end of last year.
