ADELAIDE star Eddie Betts is on track to return to his high-flying best after taking a ridiculous speccy in a Crows' internal trial game.

The mercurial 174cm small forward used 200cm ruckman Paul Hunter as a step-ladder in the pre-season hitout at Football Park on Saturday to show there is plenty of bounce still left in the 32-year-old, 295-game veteran.

Crows co-captain Taylor Walker was blown away with what Betts was able to do.

"I saw Eddie Betts take one of the biggest hangers I’ve ever seen in AFL footy," Walker told Triple M.

"It was on one of our ruckman too, which made it even bigger."

Betts was troubled by hamstring injuries last year, kicking just 29 goals in 18 games for the Crows.

It was the first time he had kicked less than 50 goals in a season since joining the Crows in 2014.

Betts has had an injury-free pre-season and will look to recapture the form that made him one of the most dangerous small forwards in the competition.

He will also captain team Deadly in the AFLX tournament at Marvel Stadium on Friday night.
