FORMER Port Adelaide defender Jarman Impey can add an "electric" element to Hawthorn's forward line, new teammate Tom Mitchell says.
Impey crossed to the Hawks during last year's trade period and impressed in his first game for the club on Saturday against the Western Bulldogs in the JLT Community Series.
The 22-year-old gathered 15 disposals, had six inside-50s and five score involvements, as well as showing vital dash and pace.
Mitchell, who enjoyed a stunning first season at Hawthorn last year that saw him named an All Australian and the club's best and fairest, said Impey brought some excitement to Hawthorn's mix.
JLT Community Series: When's your team playing?
"He had a lot of flair yesterday, especially early in the game. There was a patch in the third quarter when he ran through the middle of the ground and took a few bounces," he said on Sunday.
"I think he's going to be a pretty electric player for us and we're excited to see what he can do."
Impey's versatility came to the fore during his four seasons at the Power, often being used as a small rebounding backman.
But after spending all of this summer training as a forward, Impey is ready to add to what already shapes as a dangerous attack for the Hawks.
"Impey, once Cyril [Rioli] gets back from injury, Luke Breust, Paul Puopolo and obviously [Jack] Gunston and [Jarryd] Roughead as the taller type players … the forward line is pretty potent," Mitchell said.
One player who won't be there is James Sicily, who showed again on Saturday why he is one of the competition's leading young talls.
He had 24 disposals and six marks in defence, and Mitchell praised his talented teammate.
"Everyone loves 'Sis' in the backline. His back end of last year was pretty impressive, and his intercept marking and kicking from the back half was pretty good," Mitchell said.
"I think he's found his spot down there and he looks pretty comfortable, which is great for us."
The Hawks' next and final pre-season clash will be against Carlton this Saturday at the University of Tasmania Stadium. Mitchell said the 22-point loss to the Dogs would provide some good learning points after implementing new plans.
"Obviously we've made some tweaks to our game-plan over the pre-season and we were able to trial a few things," he said.
"A few things worked, a few things didn't work. Now we've got a game to analyse and look at through the week, and get better again," he said.
