FREMANTLE CEO Steve Rosich is confident Lachie Neale will play for the club next year, saying the star midfielder has not requested a trade to Brisbane.
Neale was one of the Dockers' shining lights in a disappointing season, playing all 22 games, averaging 30 disposals and kicking 10 goals.
He recently took a trip to Queensland, adding fuel to the fire that he may be on the move.
DOCKER ON THE MOVE? Lions trying to lure Lachie
"The gentleman you doorstopped at the airport, Lachie Neale [and his partner] were probably just having a romantic trip to Queensland," Rosich told Mix 94.5 radio station in Perth.
"We're very comfortable where it sits, Lachie's a fine young man, 25 years of age, been a terrific player for us and got a lot of good footy ahead of him.
"He's contracted to us for 2019 and we'll remain positive he'll be contracted to us beyond 2019."
Rosich was asked directly if Neale had requested a trade, and if there had been an argument in an end-of-season meeting between the player and his coach Ross Lyon.
"There's a lot of mistruths at this time of year. Categorically no to both questions, and in fact to the second one, our leaders didn't even have exit meetings with the coaches," he said.
"So [it's] a time of year when there's plenty of mistruths and unfortunately that's the case."
