PORT Adelaide is a perfect two from two to start the season and Tom Rockliff has taken a back seat in both games.
It's testament to the quality and depth of the Power that a prolific ball-winner like Rockliff can be eased in without it affecting the team's performance.
It was always going to take time for Rockliff to adjust to his new surroundings, especially after a knee injury forced him to miss the JLT Community Series and the Power's intraclub game.
Ahead of facing his old side Brisbane for the first time, Rockliff has had 12 disposals or fewer in back-to-back games for the first time in his career.
He had 12 possessions (only one of those contested) from 69 per cent game time in the round one victory over Fremantle, followed by nine disposals (with three contested and at 22.2 per cent efficiency) from 66 per cent game time in last Sunday's win against Sydney.
To put it into perspective how rare that is for the 28-year-old, he had just six games of 10 possessions or less in his previous 154 games.
One of those was his debut, another was when he was knocked out cold six minutes into the first quarter against Gold Coast in 2015, and another when he tagged then-Carlton star Bryce Gibbs out of the game last year, leading the Lions to a rare victory.
Rockliff only won 29.87 per cent of his games at the Lions (46 wins, 108 losses) and has never played a final.
It's that desire for team success and achieving the ultimate goal that Power veteran Justin Westhoff said everyone, especially the club's experienced recruits, had bought into.
"We've spoken about playing a role for the team," Westhoff told AFL.com.au.
"You're not always going to get the ball and you're not always going to get 30 touches.
"You just have to accept that.
"We'll have guys that do that each week, but it's not the be all and end all.
"Winning's the number one goal for us and guys have accepted that."
Rockliff signed with the Power as a free agent on a four-year deal at the end of last season.
Westhoff has no doubt Rockliff will take on a more prominent role as the season progresses.
"Coming from Brisbane, he's had some really good years there," Westhoff said.
"He's still settling in and he's still playing an important role in the midfield.
"His time will come to kick a few goals and to have a few touches.
"I think he's pretty excited to play his old team.
"He's an important part of our team going forward and for him to play finals and to experience that is something he's looking forward to."
