AFL Football Operations Manager Steve Hocking today said the AFL had written to Carlton coach Brendon Bolton, in regard to an on-field exchange at the three-quarter time break of last Saturday’s Round Eight match against Essendon, played at the MCG.
As Bolton was heading towards his team huddle, he had directed words towards Essendon player Mark Baguley.
Hocking said Bolton had contacted him over the weekend, and immediately apologised for his actions, realising they had the potential to escalate any situation involving the players on-field.
Mr Hocking said Bolton’s immediate apology, coupled with his previous exemplary record, had meant the AFL would issue a warning, but any future breach of the AFL Player Rules could result in a financial sanction and/or suspension.
