THERE will be no complete parking ban at the MCG for this week's clash between Geelong and Hawthorn with the MCC forecasting a crowd of around 60,000 to attend the Easter Monday clash.
The MCG applied their planned parking ban for the first time this AFL season last Thursday night for the blockbuster Richmond-Carlton match, which was attended by 90,151 spectators, without incident.
Four additional AFL games this season have been earmarked for the complete ban on cars in Yarra Park to minimise the risk of incidents involving vehicles and pedestrians.
The next game to feature the full vehicle lockout will be the Anzac Day eve clash between Melbourne and Richmond on April 24, with the next day's Collingwood-Essendon clash to follow suit.
There will be limited parking on Monday but no complete car ban, despite the average crowd of the Easter Monday fixture equating to 72,652 since 2012.
The crowd prediction isn't the only factor that went into determining which games featured Yarra Park parking restrictions, with precinct activity – like other sporting events and spectator marches - also considered.
An 80m exclusion zone will be in place from the stadium to the first row of cars, which has reduced Yarra Park's capacity by two-thirds for most games.
Home and away matches with no public parking are:
- Anzac Day eve, Melbourne v Richmond
- Anzac Day, Collingwood v Essendon
- Dreamtime at the 'G, Essendon v Richmond
- Queen's Birthday, Melbourne v Collingwood
