THE AFL is considering changing the deadline for the final day of this year's NAB AFL Trade Period in a bid to push it closer to prime time.
A 2pm deadline of the last day of trading has been set for recent years and has seen many deals go down to the wire.
The League has yet to announce the length of this year's exchange period, but AFL.com.au understands it is weighing up whether to push the deadline back until later on the last day to capture more attention.

Last year fans were brought closer to the trade action through AFL Media's initiative to place a camera inside the room at Etihad Stadium where the League and club list bosses signed off on deals on the last day of the trade period.
It was deemed a success and was able to be streamed through AFL.com.au's Trade Radio.
The final day of the trade period has long been one of the highest-rating days of the year for the AFL website and the Official AFL App.
By shifting the deadline to later in the day or night, it would allow for a bigger audience to see the frantic final few hours unfold broadcast live online or television.
The trade period has run for 11 days in recent years, overlapping with the free agency window, which has started before clubs can make trades.
The League has discussed a number of options for this year's trade period, including shortening it to eight days.
Under another proposal clubs would also then be able to trade draft selections up until days before the NAB AFL Draft, and then during the draft as a live option.
