GREATER Western Sydney forward Lachie Tiziani will miss the rest of the season after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in the NEAFL.

Tiziani was stretchered off during the third quarter of the Giants' 21-point loss to Gold Coast on Saturday, and scans revealed the worst possible news.

The season-ending injury is a blow for the 21-year-old, who had kicked three goals for GWS in the second quarter of the round two match in Mackay before he twisted awkwardly in a tackle.

Tiziani, who was taken with pick 54 at the 2016 NAB AFL draft, is yet to make his senior debut for the Giants, but the speedy forward showed some promising signs in this year's JLT Community Series.

GWS head of athletic performance David Joyce said Tiziani's injury was unfortunate.

"This is really sad news for Lachie, who had been putting together some impressive form in the NEAFL," he said. 

"He'll have surgery tomorrow and then we'll sit down and map out a rehab plan for the coming months with him. 

"Lachie knows he has the full support of everyone at the Giants to get him back out on the field, and we're sure there are bigger and better things to come for him." 

He's the second Giant to be ruled out for the year after Will Setterfield ruptured his ACL in a scratch match against Sydney in February.
