Charges Laid:

David Swallow, Gold Coast Suns, has been charged with making careless contact with umpire Nick Brown during the third quarter of the Round 12 match between the Gold Coast Suns and the GWS Giants, played at Spotless Stadium on Saturday June 9, 2018.

Other incidents assessed

Contact between the Brisbane Lions’ Luke Hodge and Essendon’s Dyson Heppell from the second quarter of Sunday’s match was assessed. The ball was loose in front of Hodge, who was seeking to take possession. As Hodge prepares to take the ball, Heppell props in front of the Brisbane player, allowing him to contest the ball or prepare for a tackle. Hodge makes contact with the Essendon player as he runs in the line of the ball. It was the view of the Match Review Officer that Hodge was contesting the ball and had no realistic alternative way to contest the ball.

The match day report laid against Fremantle’s Michael Walters was assessed. It was the view of the Match Review Officer that Walters and Adelaide Crows’ player Tom Doedee leaned into each other, as the pair came together. There was minimal contact between the pair and it was the view of the Match Review Officer the action did not meet the requirement for a charge to be laid. No further action was taken.
