BRISBANE skipper Dayne Zorko says he's "embarrassed" and will learn from his post-match altercation with Gold Coast's Touk Miller.
Following the Lions' four-point win last Saturday night, Zorko yelled expletives in Miller's face before sarcastically trying to shake his hand on multiple occasions.
It was the second instalment of a budding rivalry that went back to the round five matchup between the pair that also ended in controversy, when Zorko refused to shake the hand of the Suns tagger after the match.
Speaking on Melbourne radio station RSN927 on Tuesday morning, Zorko said it was important he conducted himself better as captain.
"Unfortunately at the end of the game I didn't do that," he said.
"I'm probably a bit embarrassed with what happened. I'll certainly learn from that.
"In the heat of the moment, stuff like that is going to happen and it's important I learn from it.
"I expect myself to handle these situations a lot better now that I'm a leader of the football club."
Zorko conceded it "didn't look great" from his side.
Speaking at a press conference later on Tuesday morning, Lions veteran Luke Hodge said Zorko shouldn't be judged on a heated post-match exchange.
"I think 'Zorks' has said the emotions got the better of him at the time, but what I've seen of Zorko since he has taken over the captaincy way outweighs the two-second action after a game," Hodge said.
"What he's been able to do for our football club this year as captain stepping in has been an amazing effort.
"I think more of the bloke I've seen here do all that than the two-second reaction after a game."
Hodge said it was unrealistic to switch off after battling an opponent head-to-head for four quarters.
He said next time the teams meet he was sure the players would shake hands and move on instantly.
After playing 18 of a possible 21 games in his first season at the Lions, Hodge also confirmed he would play on in 2019.
