The AFL advises the Match Review of Saturday and Sunday’s Round 19 matches have been completed. Please find below the charges laid and also those matters that were explained in detail.

Charges Laid:

Mitch Robinson, Brisbane Lions, has been charged with engaging in rough conduct against Patrick Dangerfield, Geelong Cats, during the fourth quarter of the Round 19 match between the Geelong Cats and the Brisbane Lions, played at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday July 28, 2018.

In summary, he can accept $3,500 sanction with an early plea.

Based on the available evidence and a medical report from the Geelong Cats Football Club, the incident was classified as careless conduct with low impact to the body. A second classifiable offence is assessed as a $5000 sanction. The player can accept a $3,500 sanction with an early plea. 

Charlie Curnow, Carlton, has been charged with striking Steven May, Gold Coast Suns, during the second quarter of the Round 19 match between the Gold Coast Suns and Carlton, played at Metricon Stadium on Saturday July 28, 2018.

Steven May, Gold Coast Suns, has been charged with engaging in rough conduct against Ed Curnow, Carlton, during the fourth quarter of the Round 19 match between the Gold Coast Suns and Carlton, played at Metricon Stadium on Saturday July 28, 2018.

Tom Rockliff, Port Adelaide, has been charged with engaging in misconduct against Marcus Adams, Western Bulldogs, during the fourth quarter of the Round 19 match between the Western Bulldogs and Port Adelaide, played at Mars Stadium on Sunday July 29, 2018.

Other Incidents:

Contact between Carlton’s Patrick Cripps and the Gold Coast Suns’ David Swallow from the first quarter of Saturday’s match was assessed. Swallow attempts to take possession of the ball. Cripps comes to the side of Swallow and wraps his right arm around the Suns’ player’s body and tries to knock the ball with his left hand. The momentum of both players sees them go to ground. In the motion of going to ground both players put their hands down to protect their fall. It was the view of the Match Review Officer that this did not constitute as a dangerous tackle and Cripps’ actions, were not unreasonable in the circumstances. No further action was taken.
