ADELAIDE forward Mitch McGovern is yet to give the Crows any indication that he will leave the club during this year's trade period, coach Don Pyke insists.
However, speculation continues to circulate that McGovern will attempt to break his contract at season's end and seek a move away from Adelaide.
It follows reports that the talented 23-year-old also asked for a trade during last year's exchange period, just months after signing an extension through to the end of 2020.
Crows board member Mark Ricciuto later dismissed those reports as "very wrong".
Although Pyke wouldn't definitively rule out the prospect of McGovern asking for a move on Friday, he reiterated that the forward is yet to inform him of such a possibility occurring.
"I hear the rumours as well, (but) I try not to operate in rumours and innuendo," Pyke told SEN Breakfast.
"My view is pretty straightforward, until Mitch walks in my door and says he's unhappy here and wants to consider options elsewhere, I just treat him as an Adelaide player.
"That conversation hasn't occurred, so we move on and do what we do."
McGovern has struggled with a number of fitness issues this season, kicking just 15 goals from 11 games in an Adelaide side that has failed to replicate its scintillating 2017 form.
For Pyke, the only focus for the club remains on getting the forward back on track next year.
"I've had conversations with him about how he's travelling from a footy viewpoint and how he's travelling from a life viewpoint and all of those things," Pyke said.
"There will probably be some conversations at the end of the year with him which will be around what it looks like for him to get back playing the sort of footy we recruited and then recontracted him on. There are ongoing conversations."
Meanwhile, Adelaide coach Don Pyke has opened up on Taylor Walker's horror year as his side prepares to play its final game of the season.
A year after being beaten grand finalists, Pyke said the Crows captain started the season "underdone" and his inability to perform at his usual level had led to some frustration.
"He has had a really difficult year, Tex (Walker), and I certainly feel for him as captain of the footy club," he told SEN on Friday.
"Unfortunately, from a performance viewpoint, he hasn't been able to do the things that he wants to do."
Walker's season came to an early end after a two-game suspension - his second ban in a year that's also seen him miss five games due to injury.
He also missed the entire pre-season because of a foot injury, impacting his ability to return to his previous form.
"The step up from where he was at to playing games and repeating games, week in, week out, was just a reach too far," Pyke said.
"He was pulling up sore, he developed some tendinitis is areas, so he started going backwards pretty quickly.
"So we backed him off and we gave him four weeks out to sort of build some fitness base ... and since then he has probably still struggled with that lack of pre-season and conditioning.
"To his credit, he has soldiered on and he has put himself out there week in and week out."
